EVENT DETAILS

Sept 4 - Sept 7, 2020

Arrive on Sept 4 at 8pm

A O Wheeler - Glacier NP (Illecillewaet Campground)

Here is what you need to know!

This is our most popular event!

"Strangers had the opportunity to become friends. When it’s all women, you take lead, push further, you laugh harder, and you summit that mountain."  // Kieren Britton - The Lady Alliance

"This community and my experience on their First Annual Adventure to the A.O. Wheeler Hut in Glacier National Park, has left such a positive imprint in my life. For someone who was new to the hiking world at the beginning of this summer, it was very easy to find inspiration on social media, which usually turned into being overwhelmed. The true inspiration came from when I discovered The Lady Alliance." // Kelsey Derkach

**This is one of our 2 long weekend options! If this weekend doesn't work for you, check out our Whiskey Jack Weekend!**

The Wheeler Hut is a true back country hut! A propane system provides the cooking and lighting, with two wood stoves for heating. No electricity, off grid.. the perfect log hut. The hut provides sleeping pads, but has no bedding. Please keep in mind that this is a backcountry hut, and is the perfect place for your wilderness experience.

Perfect for adventurers at all experience levels! Hikes span from easy to difficult!

Please Note: There are no guides on this adventure. This is a community meet up.

Additional Information

Level of Difficulty:

No previous experience is necessary but a general fitness level is needed. You will be able to choose the hikes that best suit your needs. You will need to carry your personal gear plus food and water for a short distance each day; approximately 2km.

The hut is a backcountry hut, so we like to add the hut itself into the level of difficulty. If you prefer more plush accommodation, please check out our Whiskey Jack retreat.

Please note: There is no guide present on this adventure. These hikes are taken at your own risk.

Transportation to hut is not provided. You must purchase a park pass to enter the park.

This adventure will be cancelled if we do not have enough registrants. In the case of a cancellation, we will refund your ticket purchase.

There are no refunds after registration.

You will be required to sign this waiver upon arrival. You do not need to print or prepare the waiver ahead of time, as it will be at the hut when you arrive. We have attached it here for your review. This waiver was also the terms and conditions you approved upon purchase.

The hostel

We are staying at the Alpine Club of Canada’s A O Wheeler Hut. This is a backcountry hut, with no running water, indoor bathrooms or showers, or electricity (and is SO AWESOME!). We have a propane system that provides the cooking and lighting, with two wood stoves for heating the hut if it's chilly. The hut also provides sleeping pads, but has no bedding.

We bring water to the cabin, and will provide toilet paper for the outhouses. There is running water at the campground next door, where we usually go as a group every night before bed.

The water will be drinkable water. Purification processes such as tablets or pumps are not needed at the hut.

Staying in this hut is such a fun adventure! However please come with an open mind, as this is not a hotel stay.

Here is a link to the hut: https://www.alpineclubofcanada.ca/web/ACCMember/Huts/A_O_Wheeler_Hut.aspx

There is a parking lot very close to the hut. Walk only 2 minutes up to the hut from your vehicle.
