A O Wheeler Mountain Retreat

The classic, the favourite - A O Wheeler Mountain Retreat.

This was The Lady Alliance's first ever retreat in 2017. This will be our 5th time back bringing over 80 ladies with us.

It is definitely a community favourite!

Join us while we explore Rogers Pass and Glacier National Park, and most importantly meet and connect with other female adventurers!

This all-ladies meet up is at your own pace. Enjoy the back country cabin, challenge yourself on hikes, zen to mountain yoga, capture the beauty of the mountains, and more!

About this Adventure...

This is our most popular event!

"Strangers had the opportunity to become friends. When it’s all women, you take lead, push further, you laugh harder, and you summit that mountain."  // Kieren Britton - The Lady Alliance

"This community and my experience on their First Annual Adventure to the A.O. Wheeler Hut in Glacier National Park, has left such a positive imprint in my life. For someone who was new to the hiking world at the beginning of this summer, it was very easy to find inspiration on social media, which usually turned into being overwhelmed. The true inspiration came from when I discovered The Lady Alliance." // Kelsey Derkach

**This is one of our 2 long weekend options! If this weekend doesn't work for you, check out our Whiskey Jack Weekend!**

The Wheeler Hut is a true back country hut! A propane system provides the cooking and lighting, with two wood stoves for heating. The hut also provides sleeping pads, but has no bedding. Please keep in mind that this is a backcountry hut, and is the perfect place for your wilderness experience.

Perfect for adventurers at all experience levels!

The Hut

There is a parking lot very close to the hut. Walk only 2 minutes up to the hut from your vehicle.

Alpine Club of Canada states:

Carrying on the tradition of the Glacier House which was closed in 1925 and now exists only as a few concrete foundation pieces, the Wheeler Hut serves as a base for the legendary powder skiing of the Rogers Pass area. In summer there are numerous opportunities for hiking.

This is the birthplace of alpinism in North America. Many of the routes are steeped in tradition and history, an interesting fact to remember as you reach for that next impeccable quartzite handhold or take that next footstep along one of the many trails which wind through the lush cedar forests that dominate the region.

This is the one and only ACC hut which can be reached by vehicle in summer.

It is difficult to convey to the first time visitor the number and quality of the summer day trips possible from the hut. The potential is outstanding from this single hut including summer hikes to Asulkan Pass or up the Great Glacier Trail to the Illicilewaet Glacier, summer climbs to Sapphire Col, Mt. Sir Donald, and Avalanche Peak; winter ski tours to Young’s Peak, the Seven Steps of Paradise, the Dome Glacier – the list goes on and on. Go and explore for yourself, you will not be disappointed!

This trip is designed to help women explore the world of winter camping. No previous experience is necessary but a general fitness level is needed. You will need to carry your personal gear plus food and water for a short distance each day; approximately 2km. We will camp close to a hut that is booked, so if you are finding the cold too much you can always retreat to the heat.

Registration can only be completed once you have read our terms and conditions. This adventure will be cancelled if we do not have enough registrants.
