Base Layer Insecurities and Healing the Child Within

Meet This Speaker

Kieren Britton

Kieren loves to dream of the ridiculous and make it a reality. Whether it’s cycling across Canada or converting a school bus into a full time home, there is nothing Kieren enjoy’s more than testing the limits and learning more about herself!

Growing up in the outdoors has crafted Kieren into who she is today. It’s taught her more about her capabilities than she could have ever imagined. Yet she still has hesitations, and self doubt. With insecurities present from childhood to adulthood, Kieren shares with us her non-linear journey to loving herself and how you can heal the child within.

The Expedition with Heather Geluk

Meet This Speaker

Heather Geluk

Heather’s zest for adventure reflects a love for the outdoors and an inherent sense of ‘wanderlust’. She actively uses her experiences as an adventurer climbing the highest mountains on earth – from the Himalayas to the Andes to the Alps – as opportunities to inspire others and ‘give back’. In doing so, Heather has helped raise over $500,000 in funds to support organisations in the non-for-profit sector focused on health, the environment, and education.

Achievements beyond her day job include climbing some of the highest mountains in the world. Mountains like Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Shishapangma (Nepal / Tibet), Aconcagua (Argentina), Alpamayo (Peru), Kilimanjaro (x5) (Tanzania), Damavand (Iran) and climbs throughout the Himalayas and the Alps are the ‘spice’ in an already impressive and extensive mountaineering CV.

Not limited to adventures closer to sea level, Heather’s also cycled over 7500kms from west to east across Canada, cycled across Tanzania, dragon boat raced down the Thames, and white water rafted throughout Nepal.

Recently Heather has opened up about her personal journey through cancer treatments, and how this new life changing expedition has shaped her life, her love for her body, and her zest for adventure.

Living Into Your Body – The Practice Of Self Love

Meet This Speaker

Palesa Koitsioe, Head Coach & Founder of Imbali Bloom Consulting.

Palesa Koitsioe (they/them) was born in Johannesburg, South Africa and migrated to the unceded, ancestral lands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, and səlil̓ilw̓ətaʔɬ territories, colonially known as Vancouver. They are Black, queer, non-binary and Tswana speaking. They have a Bachelors degree in Psychology with a specialization in Neuroscience.

At Imbali Bloom Consulting we are a hybrid of a coaching practice and a consulting one; this allows us to weave the care on an individual level and a company level. We believe that in order to change the world, we have to change ourselves first. With the amazing studies of neuroplasticity mirrored onto our social constructs; we know that it is possible to change ourselves. Our approach to this work is influenced by care, compassion, dignity reclamation practices, emotional intelligence and Cognitive Behavioural Theories.

Palesa prides themselves in their creativity and the infusion of that skill in all the work they’ve done within the Black community (locally and back home). In Vancouver they have offered workshops that help strengthen the sense of identity and self love that society strips from us everyday. They are currently accepting applications for their online group coaching program called EKHAYA (means home in IsiZulu). The program is getting ready for the next cohort of folks beginning March 2022. Palesa wants to make sure that their life story and those of others does not get erased, with that mission they started their podcast Bonolo (means kindness) as an active way of capturing stories and lessons for future generations.”
