We Build Confidence and Community Through Adventure...
After being told too many times that she was "brave for a girl", Kieren Britton, founder of The Lady Alliance, had had enough. We have this bravery in all of us, it's not restricted by gender. Kieren was determined to bring this to light.
The Lady Alliance started as an online social community where women had the chance to share their story. Whether it was a photo or adventure article, ladies could submit their adventures and speak through The Lady Alliance.
As the community grew, so did the demand for a chance to meet everyone in person. The Lady Alliance's first all women meet up was held in September 2017 at the A O Wheeler Hut in Glacier National Park.
This meet up was titled the "First Annual Long Weekend Meet Up" as there was no original intention of becoming an adventure traveling community. We had no idea how excited this community was to meet in person...
The meet up reached capacity in only a matter of weeks. The meet up was full of inspiring women from all over the globe.
Since our first trip The Lady Alliance has grown to include other adventures, retreats, and courses. We have yoga'd in Bali, surfed in Tofino, learnt avalanche safety, and so much more. In March of 2018 Mountain Equipment Coop (MEC) partnered with The Lady Alliance to extend their reach to empower women of all ages and backgrounds.
Today, The Lady Alliance has morphed into a beautiful community providing opportunity for women to find empowerment through adventure and, of course, each other.
We now include adventure based self-love and wellness retreats, events focusing on mental wellness, empowerment and self-love, inspirational speaking conferences, outdoor courses, and online courses.
Collaboration Over Competition
In September 2018 Women Who Explore and The Lady Alliance decided to meet in person. All three founders were curious about each other. An instant bond was created over breakfast poutines and coffee.
Both Jenny and Lindsay from Women Who Explore and Kieren from The Lady Alliance had similar values, goals, and a love for life, adventure, and inspiring others. The Lady Alliance aims to build confidence and community through adventure. Women Who Explore is a community dedicated to getting every woman into the outdoors.
Yah, we saw the similarities as well...
The idea came in a dog walk. Both companies wanted to reach as many people as possible while empowering women, encouraging confidence, building community, and getting women into the outdoors...
We are stronger together.
The Lady Alliance and Women Who Explore believe that collaboration is always better than competition. Sometimes we forget that. It is easy to feel as though we need to compete to be the best, when in reality we can create even more positive change when working together.
Aligning through values of empowerment, kindness, adventure, and encouragement, we created our parent company..
Hi, I'm Kieren, founder of The Lady Alliance. Since the ripe old age of 6 weeks I have been camping, road-tripping and exploring.
I love to dream of the ridiculous and make it a reality. Whether it's cycling across Canada or converting a school bus into a full time home, there is nothing I enjoy more than testing the limits and learning more about myself!
I do consider myself one of the lucky ones. Growing up in the outdoors has crafted me into who I am today. I have found healing and solace, friends and 'framily', and a love for life through adventure. And I cannot wait to share all of that with you.
